Steamworld Dig is Origin’s “On the House” offer- if you want the game, all you have to do is log into Origin and claim the game from this page– this is only for the Windows version of the game (there’s a Mac/Linux version available on Steam), but even if you don’t have a Windows PC, you should claim the game anyway in case EA does make the game available for your platform sometime in the future. In case you’re wondering about Steamworld Dig, what you should know is that it’s a fantastic metroidvania style platformer in which you play as a steampunk robot named Rusty; your goal is to mine for valuable materials and uncover a mystery that lurks deep beneath the surface of the earth. I originally played this game on the Nintendo 3DS- the PC port of the game has nicely improved graphics and runs quite well on most computers- even if you have a potato for a GPU, Steamworld Dig is still quite playable. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fe-9OPMUz4w The reason the game’s available for free right now is to help promote its sequel, Steamworld Dig 2, which is set to be released in September for the Nintendo Switch, and at a later date to the PS4 and PC; we talked about that on our latest episode of 1RBC Gaming Weekly (which is finally back for its second season).
